Group 1
This is a technique group, with emphasis on learning all four
strokes legally and being introduced to the sport. Swimmers are
typically 8-12 years old. These swimmers attend primarily Suburban
League meets. Practice is offered three times per week. There is no
attendance or meet participation policy, just encouragement when
swimmers and parents are ready for a bigger commitment.

must demonstrate knowledge of all 4 competitive strokes and turns,
with emphasis on legality. Those on Group 2 are 12 and under. Group
2 swimmers are offered four practices per week, and are encouraged
to attend three to four practices per week. Swimmers in this
practice group are introduced to how to create team and individual
goals. Equipment used during workouts are fins and buoys. Group 2
swimmers are encouraged to compete and work toward swimming all
strokes and distances. Swimmers on this group are working
towards achieving silver state and state qualifying times.

Group
3
Group 3 swimmers
practice four times per week and are primarily 10-12 year
olds. Swimmers have started to exhibit good swimming skills.
They spend their time equally between stroke technique and training
skills and processes, and they are beginning to develop their
aerobic base with interval training and endurance work. Attendance
is highly encouraged, with exceptions made for involvement in other
sports and activities. Most 10 and under swimmers are
female and have state or zone times in this group. We typically
have 10 and under boys stay with group 2 unless they are at a
really high level since developmentally they do not typically
benefit from or enjoy this amount of swimming. The eleven and
twelve year olds will be working toward or have state times. These
swimmers should be capable of swimming all races at meets at this
point. Swimmers are expected to attend meets in this group to the
highest level they qualify. Equipment- includes fins and pull
buoys.
